What is FitHappyHealthy (FHH)?

Hi, Anita here :o)
If you're here reading this – it's likely that this is your first time on this site :o) Fear not – you're in the right place to find out if you should stay or not.
Yep – that's me on the right… I have a small 'sweet tooth' problem… Now, let's talk about why you should stay.
What's Fit Happy Healthy – What's in 'it' for YOU
As the tagline in the header says – this is a place where you get the knowledge, guidance, support and strength to fall in love with yourself and then your life.
'Falling in love with yourself' isn't just some random philosophical expression. It's a very important part of living a fulfilled and happy life. An integral prerequisite to enjoying yourself and contributing to those around you.
If you don't understand, believe, respect, appreciate, and love WHO YOU ARE – you'll always be living a life that's not as great as it should be.
Worse yet – you'll always be a victim in the hands of external circumstances that are out of your control.
So, Fit Happy Healthy (FHH) is here to help you find a way to live a fulfilling life — whatever that means for YOU.
You may want to lose fat, and keep trim.
Or you may want to change careers.
You may want to become healthier, and pass those healthy habits on to your family.
Or you may just want to feel better about yourself.
Whatever changes you feel you want to make in your life to make it more fulfilling, I'll be here to help with techniques, advice, info, support or motivation.
Because I truly, passionately believe that each of us is meant to enjoy life in a way that makes sense to US. That individuality is what is so beautiful and special in each human being.
BUT! This isn't your standard "How to do this", or "Here's a list of 10 things to do, to make X better" – kinda' website.
No.
Benefiting and enjoying FHH will require you to pay attention (become aware), make sense of the info (give yourself the choice), and to take action (take control and keep it) towards your desired outcome.
In other words: I can show you the door, but YOU have to walk through it.
I can bring you to the water, but I can't make you drink.
You get the point…
What am I selling?
I'm selling you on adopting a new attitude towards living.
Believe that you, as well as any other human on this planet, CAN achieve it (whatever you feel you need to get done), and more importantly, you DESERVE it.
Demand a fulfilling life. And resolve to enjoy it.
If it'll make you happy and more fulfilled it's VALID, it's IMPORTANT, and it IS POSSIBLE.
Do you have what it takes?
Seeing it's your first time here, and you may still be thinking "Should I stay or should I go?", I wanted to give you an Action Plan. A checklist you can take and use as you please.
That way, I hope you'll move closer to your desired outcome, regardless of what happens past this page ;o)
In a few moments I'll launch into a short explanation as to why you should listen to a word I say, but first – here are the 6 components you need to have to succeed.
Looks scary at first, but if you approach each point systematically and one at a time, you'll find that it's totally logical and do-able.
- POWERHOUSE WHY
- S.M.A.R.T. Plan/Goal
- S – Specific
- M – Measurable
- A – Actionable
- R – Realistic
- T – Timely
- Knowledge
- Action
- Consistency
- Supportive Environment
This is a term I use that simply means
a powerful, emotional, and personal reason why you want to achieve something.
This is an absolute must, and ironically, it's the most overlooked part of any action plan.
It's one of the most common reasons why people fail to lose weight, get healthy, learn a new skill and so on. That's because you can't achieve something worthwhile if you don't have a strong enough reason to stick with what's required for success.
The way to know if your WHY is a POWERHOUSE?
It is, if when reading/thinking/talking about it you get passionate, emotional or strong-headed.
Merely saying to yourself "I'd like to lose some weight so that I can look better in my bikini" isn't going to cut it through the tough times.
What's your reason?
This is a plan or goal that is:
So if you were to re-phrase the statement from my first point to fit in with the S.M.A.R.T. requirements, it'll go something like this:
"I want to lose 5% body fat by following the Primal Blueprint way of eating and exercising. I'll get those results by 31 July 2011 taking care to be healthy and to be aware of the habits that I want to keep for life."
Just like with learning a new craft, you need the knowledge to allow you to progress. If a wood-smith had no clue of how to hold the carving knife – he's not going to get very far without taking the time to educate himself.
Knowledge gives you awareness, which in turn allows you to make an educated choice. Without that you're flying blind, hoping for good results…
But don't just learn stuff like a parrot either. That's not an effective strategy, because the moment the "going gets tough" you'll automatically default back to your old ways.
Instead, get the basic knowledge necessary, then commit to taking responsibility for what you learn next.
Evaluate each new piece of info. Question it's validity within the context of your own life. Test it.
If it fits, keep it. If it doesn't – ditch it. Don't be afraid to dismiss concepts that don't enhance your quality of life.
Connecting the new knowledge to the knowledge you already have is the only way to keep this new knowledge for the long term. That's how we all learn.
This means taking action to achieve your desired outcome, but also getting into action – moving, working out, exercising.
Don't expect results if you're not fully ready to take action (even winning the lottery requires you to take the action of purchasing the ticket).
It's a very simple concept, but you'd be surprised how many people set out to lose fat (for example) expecting to find a solution that requires them to do nothing…
Which brings me to the next point on the list:
Taking action only once – is as worthless (if not more worthless) as not taking action at all!
So if you choose to take action, you must take action consistently. It doesn't mean that every step will be the same. It means, do whatever is required to move yourself closer to your goal consistently. Make a plan (like the one here) and then follow through. And don't be afraid to tweak things as you go along.
You know the old proverb: "Tell me who your friends are, and I'll tell you who you are." – well it turns out it's very true.
Many psychology research studies have shown that we are the average of the 5 people we most socialize with in our network.
So this point simply requires you to look at the people whom you most hang out with and decide if they are supportive of your goal.
Staying with the fat loss goal example… If you're trying to lose fat, but all your friends love nothing more than to do fast food, drinking and sitting in front of the TV, then you'll have a hard time making the change in yourself.
Do something about the people you socialize with and your environment – and you'll increase your chances of success.
The bottom line here is that if you want to achieve something in life – something that makes you as an individual feel more fulfilled and happy – you must commit to taking consistent action towards making that 'something' a reality.
I know there's a lot of info to take in on this page, but it's stuff you must be clear on, or your efforts may be in vain.
Just take it one step at a time. The 6 points above work. All you have to do is work your way through them and you're on your way.
…and finally…
I hope you'll join our FHH community and enjoy the conversations we have here and on Facebook.
I think you'll find it a refreshing place where you can get straight answers, recommendations* based on merit, and valuable info to keep you feeling at your best.
* From time to time you'll see me review or recommend products, books, information and so on. Whilst I'll only recommend stuff that enhances your life, please don't ever feel you have to automatically buy/read/get the stuff. Filter everything and decide if it's applicable to your life context. If you decide to buy, some (not all) of the recommendations will earn me a commission. Be assured that this is of no extra cost to you, I just wanted to let you know in advance, so there's no misunderstandings later.
I call it truth with empathy, others call it "tough love"… It's all the same – all for your best interest ;o)
Have a look through the "All Topics" section on the right – you'll find plenty of info there to get you started.
Also make sure that you don't miss a thing, by picking a way to stay in touch.
Finally, I want to leave you with this beautiful quote from the book The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery, which guides my life and helps me center myself in tough moments:
“It is with the heart that one sees rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
See you around, and whatever you do, don't forget:

P.S. I promised to let you know a little about me if you're interested. So here it is :o) – Who's Anita >>
