I have a low thyroid function, which I regulate with a single white pill taken with my breakfast in the morning. The result is – don't get to feel the symptoms, AND I get my body working in comfort.
But it took me being misdiagnosed with depression twice and plethora of other pre-menopausal symptoms (at the age of 31) to make me find the right solution.
So when I was reading this article by Life Extensions magazine, I thought I just have to write about it so that you could at least know the true story.
The problems with diagnosing Hyper or Hypo-thyroidisms are:
- Many people go through their lives undiagnosed because the they see their symptoms as "part of life" or not significant enough.
- Many doctors don't know how to test for thyroid disorders properly.
- Even if you are lucky enough to be taken seriously when you present your symptoms. And if you're lucky enough to be correctly tested and diagnosed. You're not very likely to be treated appropriately for the disorder.
So, because I'm not a doctor, here is the article by Life Extensions, that has all the facts you need to know about Thyroid Regulation (for starters).
If you feel you need to dig deeper, here is a book that's up for the job:
Stop the Thyroid Madness – by Janie A. Bowthorpe
